Catholic Professional Standards Limited CEO Sheree Limbrick has been appointed to the Child Safe Sectors Leadership Group set up to provide sector advice to the Federal Government through the National Office for Child Safety.
Speaking ahead of the group’s first meeting in Canberra today, Ms Limbrick said its vital that government hears directly from networks of organisations responsible for the safety and well being of children.
“Catholic Professional Standards Limited has worked extensively with leaders and service providers in the Catholic church to develop the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
“We are in regular contact with that significant network and look forward to providing feedback across a range of issues as they come to light.
“This working group will provide an important opportunity for organisations to share best practice and identify next steps in an ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of children across Australia.
“We welcomed the release of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, and we look forward to working with government and other faith groups, organisations and sectors on the National Strategy to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse and to being part of a group that shapes and drives other national initiatives,” Ms Limbrick said.
